The Advocate is directly mailed to every member, and is available online the first of every month. This monthly publication is written by BCBA Members, and "published" in-house. It contains a Civil and Criminal Law Update, Member News, Members On The Move information, Calendar, flyers, and program articles and photographs.
Discounted education programs. CLE and other education and some social events are offered to BCBA Members at a reduced rate.
Podcasts and program materials. In 2007-2008, the BCBA recorded and made available 30 podcasted educational programs and materials from at least 36 programs. These are now available ONLY through the Members Only Section of our website.
Bar Office Amenities. Members can enjoy the convenience of the Bar Office, located on the first-floor lobby of the County Courts Building, for refreshments (coffee, tea and water), telephone, copier, fax, internet service and Wi-Fi access.
VCR/DVD Equipment. The BCBA provides VCR/DVD equipment for rental to attorneys trying cases in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, on a first-come, first-serve basis, at a rate of $50 per day. BCBA Members receive the first-day rental FREE. Contact the Bar Office (410-337-9102) to reserve the equipment.
Networking Opportunities. Annual Events provide an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues and develop a network of referral sources and lasting friendships. Annual events include Black-tie Banquet; Circuit Court Swearing-in Ceremony, reception and tour of County Courts Building for new admittees in January; Bowling Bash; Young Lawyers Annual Bull Roast and Silent Auction to benefit a different charity each year; Law Day Breakfast & Noon Ceremonies and Awards; Spring Golf Outing; Crab Feast; Memorial service held to honor our deceased members; Holiday Party; Young Lawyers Holiday Party with Circuit Court Library for contribution of children's books which are donated to the Department of Social Services Holiday Gift Repository.
Young Lawyers Committee sponsored luncheons with speakers, and the return of Chamber Chats.
CLE programs. Monthly morning, noon (brown bag lunch) and evening programs.
Dinner meetings with speakers are frequently held by the Family Law, Solo & Small Firm, and State, Local Laws & Zoning Committees.
Speakers Committee - for attorneys and judges interested in speaking at schools and senior centers.
